Apollo Group offers Risk Management expertise

Apollo Risk Management Solutions, (ARMS) an affiliate of the Apollo Group of companies which also includes Apollo Ship Chandlers, Europe USA Travel, Barcelona Europe Supply, and Freight Solutions is poised to offer their expertise to clients at Seatrade.

Efficient claims handling and medical case management go a long way in saving ship owners and operators money when it comes to risk exposure.  But, Apollo Risk Management Solutions goes a step further.  The key to reducing expenses over time lies in the Pre Employment Medical Examination Program (PEME).

“We set  up our Pre Employment Medical Examination Program initially because we held our new hires to a higher level of proof to ensure they were healthy prior to joining the ship”, said Steve Furness, Vice President of Operations for Apollo Ship Chandlers.  “We have strict guidelines where every potential crewmembers pre-employment medical evaluation is reviewed by a medical professional within 24 hours of submission.  This of course reduces exposure that would otherwise be inherited by the owner after the crewmember has joined.  This alone has proven to be tremendously successful in reducing claims year over year to the point where we count them in single digits over the fleets we manage.”

Once a crewmember has joined the vessel, ARMS provides ongoing training to the crew and management to reduce potential claims.  Should a claim arise, we have proven claims management practices that reduce the potential impact to the owner while providing the crewmember the highest level of care.

A ship held in port due to an outbreak is a disaster that can cost an owner upwards of a million dollars a day, not counting the negative public perception focused on the cruise line.  Borrowing on over 40 years of experience in cruise line hotel, food, and beverage management, ARMS can offer ship-owners consultation on vessel sanitation to prevent such a catastrophic event.

Should an outbreak occur, ARMS can provide an expert swift response team to manage the mandatory cleanup following an outbreak.
